Labor Law Workshops: How to protect your business, General Labor Law Guidelines – Kurt Barthel, former Deputy Labor Law Commissioner

Before you can comply with state personnel laws and regulations, you have to know what they are. California’s labor law requirements are complex and change with every legislative session. Too often employers pay a high price in fines, penalties and even lawsuits. This two-part session teaches businesses how to protect themselves. The first workshop on September 10 will cover general Law Labor guidelines, including: misclassifications: exempt/non-exempt/contracted employees, employing minors, worker’s comp, new hire information, and regulations and penalties.

Before you can comply with personnel laws and regulations, you have to know what they are. California’s labor law requirements are complex and change with every legislative session. Too often employers pay a high price in fines, penalties and even lawsuits. The two-part session continues, the second workshop on October 15 will cover Industrial Welfare, including: overtime requirements, time reporting, and regulations and penalties.
