Wise will explain how waste decisions are made in Humboldt County, who does what, and why it should matter to you. She'll also touch on local recycling, the state of global recycling, and the problems faced by the recycling industry. Then you'll learn some tips and tricks to help you reduce waste and support diversion reforms.

Chamber Members, their employees and those interested in joining are invited to attend. You must register for the mixer online and in advance. Registration ends at 4:00 p.m. on mixer day. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting. We hope to see you there!

MORE ABOUT LINDA WISE: She began her career in the waste industry 21 years ago as a regulator in the Yuba/Sutter County area shortly after finishing her Masters of Science Degree coursework in the Wastewater Utilization program at Humboldt State University. While there she was the lead manager of the Local Enforcement Agency for Solid Waste Issues. She also taught biology at the local community college and served as the Chair of the Yuba County Fish & Game Commission as well as Chair Pro-tem of the Yuba County Grand Jury.

She returned to Humboldt 17 years ago to become a Safety & Environmental Compliance Manager for Recology and was promoted to her current position. Wise offices out of the Recology Humboldt County Samoa Recycling Processing Facility, 1 mile south of the turnoff to the Samoa Cookhouse. The facility has become a destination for local people who want to see what happens to their recycling, ask questions, and get hints on how to reduce waste. There is a “garbage museum” with a working jukebox full of oldies but goodies and lots of art created by local artists. When the Covid crisis is over and people can go out again. Wise welcomes you to come and take a tour! Recology has a Facebook page and a Website (www.recology.com) for more information.

Wise is also active in several local service and arts organizations, served as President of the Redwood Art Association, and is a well-known distinguished artist herself.
