Apr 9th, 2021 | 12:00pm

We would like to invite you to the Eureka Chamber’s inaugural State of the Economy webinar on Friday, April 9, 2021, from 12:00 pm to 1:30 pm.

As our local business community begins to formulate tactics and strategies to move forward in 2021, it is important to know how we are doing and where we are going as a community. To shed a light on the well-being of the local economy, the Eureka Chamber has brought together noteworthy leaders from the state, county, and city to speak to area business representatives in an easily accessible and free online webinar.

Attendees will get to hear from Randy Weaver, a labor market consultant with the California Employment Development Department; Humboldt County’s Director of Economic Development Scott Adair; Eureka City Manager, Miles Slattery; and Eureka Finance Director, Lane Millar.

You can register for this event here: https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_ZhrYrwdYQaWR_g0cxO8Kyg

This event is free thanks to our sponsors the County of Humboldt and the Eureka Chamber’s Diamond Members: Advanced Security Systems, Bear River Casino Resort, and Chevron.

Weaver lives in and works from Humboldt County, offering data expertise for assisting rural and small communities with workforce and economic development initiatives and projects. His presentation will cover a review of labor market trends over the last 3-6 months; a summary of occupation and skills demand based on current online job advertising; and an overview of upcoming opportunities to grow the local labor market and provide training and employment for workers dislocated by the pandemic, such as aquaculture, cannabis, and green infrastructure projects.

Throughout a 24 year career in local government he has implemented and served on teams that created innovative and collaborative service models in the construction of public facilities, economic development, golf course management and unique social services programming.
