SPEAKERS AND TOPICS:
Randy Weaver is a labor market consultant with the California Employment Development Department. One of 23 labor market consultants statewide, Weaver provides labor market data for a five county area, including Del Norte, Humboldt, Mendocino, Siskiyou, and Trinity Counties.
Scott Adair is the Director of Economic Development for the County of Humboldt, California. Scott is also a former Planning Commissioner, Trainer, Business Owner, and Commercial Real Estate Agent. He also remains an active community volunteer.
Miles Slattery is Eureka's City Manager. Slattery was appointed as Eureka’s Interim City Manager in July of 2020. Then in December 2020 the Eureka City Council unanimously voted to execute an employment agreement with Slattery and he was sworn into the permanent position by Mayor Susan Seaman. Prior to his appointment, Miles served as Eureka’s Community Services Director. He was hired in 2006 and previously held the positions of Project Manager and Deputy Public Works Director.
Lane Millar is the city of Eureka’s Finance Director. The Finance Department is responsible for providing the financial management of all City funds and maintaining the fiscal integrity of the City. Major activities include: Managing the City's investment portfolio; obtaining financing for capital requirements; financial analysis and reporting; budget management; revenue management, including billing and collection for utilities, licenses and other revenues; information services; purchasing; transit operations; and central duplicating and printing.
Slattery and Millar will discuss the state of our local economy and current marketing efforts for the City of Eureka.
